This photograph was derived using High Dynamic Range Photography (HDR), which allows a photograph to encompass what the eye sees, in a broader range than what the camera “Sees”.

Real world scenery can display enormous ranges of light which our own visual systems can adapt to, but digital camera sensors do not have the same capability.  High dynamic range means the wide range of possible brightness values.  HDR Photography is the process of taking several photos of a scene at various exposure levels, then merging the files into one file to maximize the dynamic range of the captured scene. A tone-mapping process then converts the the file back to a range we can view and print.  This tone-mapping allows for creative expression which may produce an image very similar to what our own eyes saw, or may produce a idealized version, according to the artist’s interpretation.

Back Door#1, is an images that is very close to how my eye saw the image, on a beautiful, bright autumn afternoon, when the colors just popped!

As a host to many Super Bowl visitors, Carmel will have two 20-passenger executive buses circulating to multiple stops in the area, including the Arts & Design District, on Friday & Saturday the 3rd & 4th of February. This free shuttle service runs every 30-40 minutes each day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. to these “Super Celebration” sites.

The gallery will be open late both evenings for both tourists and native Hoosiers to experience shopping local – ArtSplash represents a dozen Indiana artists!  Glass, mosaic, photography, calligraphy, mixed media, acrylic, oil, pastel, digital art, ceramic and sculpture – we have three rooms full of eclectic and affordable art just waiting for you!
